This three-hour workshop helps you dust off your sewing machine and get to what it can do. Bring your machine or use one of ours to learn basic sewing techniques. Hand sewing techniques will also be taught so that you can finally sew that button back on your shirt properly. Or if you’re ambitious, you can make a little wallet or bag for your groceries!

In this class there will be three easy project options: a fabric wallet, a simple fold-up shopping bag, or cute children’s pouch (A gender neutral word for purse). Make a few for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, or just make one for yourself. Amaze your loved ones with your skill and needle prowess.
No prior sewing experience necessary.

A Craft Coalition for Kids
ages 7-12
Oakland Hand Made offers project based classes designed to teach kids how to use their hands. Classes in sewing, crochet, knitting, embroidery, beading, and MORE! Small class size (limit 8 people per workshop) enables each student to gather the mad skills needed to create wonder.

It is our mission to keep the tradition of handcraft alive. We want to empower kids to create, problem solve, and make their own stuff.

In this introductory class we will learn basic hand-sewing techniques, learn different stitches and create creatures, cuffs and clothes that reflect our dreams, hopes, and hilarity.

Learn the cool art of crochet. The class will focus on developing skills to single and double chain, link stitches and read patterns. Make a scarf! Make a hat! Make armwarmers! Make a blanket big or small! All materials included.

We will explore clothes-pin people, nut-head people, simple sewn people, people with hair. People without hair. People with crazy clothes. People with big noses. People with buttons for eyes. Any kind of person you can imagine, I’m here to help make it happen.
